SMBA VISIT TO PENANG – 11th & 12th OCTOBER 2019
Another exciting SMBA visit to Penang, after the success of the first edition in 2018 – Thank you to all the members who joined the events in Penang and our local hosts, Kemikon Sdn. Bhd. and VAT Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd., and to the organizers of Penang Rendezvous 2019, World of Rewards and Heart Media, for their contribution in making this a visit to remember.
Day 1 started with a company visit of VAT Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. VAT is a leading global developer, manufacturer and supplier of high-performance high-end vacuum valves. Mr. Bernd Kirchhöfer, Managing Director, welcomed the SMBA group and gave a short introduction about VAT and its manufacturing activities in Penang. The presentation was followed by a tour through the impressive manufacturing facilities of VAT.
The second company visit brought the SMBA group to Kemikon Sdn. Bhd., previously known as Stoppani Asia Sdn. Bhd. Kemikon is a contract manufacturer specializing in the semiconductor and high tech equipment industry. Mr. Marcel Wismer, CEO, shared some information about Kemikon and offered a tour through the brand new office and manufacturing facilities, including a lunch and a cocktail at the end of the company visit.
The highlight of the evening was the visit of Penang Rendezvous 2019 – Southeast Asia’s most anticipated luxury lifestyle event; encompassing cars, yachts, art, fashion, entertainment and F&B; organised by our member, World of Rewards and Heart Media.
Mr. John Tan, Managing Director, offered at tour through the exhibition at Straits Quay Marina, introducing the SMBA group to the various exhibitors. The tour was followed by a delicious dinner at a Nyonya restaurant at the quai.
After a long day 1, day 2 started with a brunch at Healy Mac’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, followed by a VIP yacht sailing experience, organized by Mr. John Tan and his team of World of Rewards.
