It was an exciting and engaging session at the Roundtable Discussion on the topic of Business and Human Rights.
We would like to thank the Embassy of Switzerland and Collective of Applied Law and Legal Realism (CALR) for co-organising this event with Swiss Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (SMCC). And of course, a big shout out of appreciation to ABB Malaysia for hosting this discussion. Your warm hospitality and support are beyond our expectations.
The session was enlightening as we discussed and understand the challenges faced by the businesses when we deep dived into the topics of Governance, Environment and Labour.
Thank you to Edmund Bon from AmerBON for the overview of the Development of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAPBHR) and a National Baseline Assessment in Malaysia, Dr. Tricia Yeoh from Institute for Democratic and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) for leading the topic of Governance, Ili Nadiah Dzulfakar from Klima Action Malaysia (KAMY) on the topic of Environment, and Dr. Andika Wahab from Institute of Malaysian & International Studies (IKMAS), National University of Malaysia (UKM )for the thorough presentation on Labour.
The shared experiences and inputs from SMCC members will contribute as data for the NBA. The successful Roundtable Discussion wouldn’t have happened without the contribution of the representatives from our participating members.
