Exciting news from the Swiss Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (SMCC) as we recently held our highly anticipated 24th Annual General Meeting! The event took place at the prestigious Hilti Asia IT Services Sdn Bhd, followed by a delectable networking dinner at Champignons @ Oasis Square.
The turnout was exceptional, with an impressive number of our members actively participating and casting their votes during the AGM. SMCC Chairman, Mr. Simon Fluck, warmly welcomed all attendees and invited Her Excellency Andrea Reichlin, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Malaysia, to deliver an insightful speech.
H.E. Andrea Reichlin shared valuable insights on the economic relationship between Switzerland and Malaysia, including bilateral trade figures and investment statistics in various industries such as manufacturing, services, and agriculture, spanning from 2018 to 2022.
Following the enlightening presentation from H.E. Andrea Reichlin, the official AGM proceedings commenced, and all items on the agenda were successfully presented and approved. Mr. Laurent Maillefer, dedicated SMCC committee member in charge of events, shared highlights from the past year and provided an exciting glimpse into the upcoming events planned for 2023 and 2024.
SMCC Treasurer, Mr. Andre Keller, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the financial accounts for 2022, showcasing SMCC’s commitment to financial transparency and responsible governance.
In a significant move, SMCC Vice Chairman, Ms. Pauline Goh, presented the change of SMCC’s legal status from a Society to CLBG (Company Limited by Guarantee) which the members also approved.
The election process was conducted by the esteemed Datin Shelina Razaly Wahi, a partner at Abdullah Chan & Co, who stood in as SMCC legal advisor. As part of the transition, SMCC Secretary, Ms. Aileen Chan, and Committee Member, Mr. Arno Kamm, officially stepped down as SMCC board members. We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Ms. Aileen Chan and Mr. Arno Kamm for their invaluable contributions to SMCC over the years.
Ms. Aileen Chan, who has been a dedicated member of the SMCC board since 2006, was awarded an Honorary Membership in recognition of her outstanding 17 years of service, a truly commendable achievement.
We are delighted to welcome Mr. Sebastian Goh as the new Secretary of SMCC, and we are confident that he will bring his expertise and enthusiasm to further strengthen the chamber’s mission and vision.
