Exciting updates from the Swiss Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (SMCC) as we recently concluded our highly anticipated 25th Annual General Meeting!
Held at the prestigious PLOY venue, the event was followed by a delightful networking dinner.
The turnout exceeded expectations, with more than 30% of our esteemed members actively participating in the AGM proceedings. Mr. Simon Fluck, Chairman of SMCC, extended a warm welcome to all attendees and graciously invited Her Excellency Andrea Reichlin, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Malaysia, to deliver her speech.
H.E. Andrea Reichlin shared invaluable insights into the economic ties between Switzerland and its major trading partners including Malaysia, delving into bilateral trade statistics and investment trends across various sectors and also updated us on the ongoing negotiations of the Economic Partnership Agreement (MEEPA) between Malaysia and the EFTA States.
Following the inspiring presentation by H.E. Andrea Reichlin, the official AGM proceedings commenced, with all agenda items meticulously presented and approved.
Mr. Laurent Maillefer, a dedicated member of the SMCC committee overseeing events, provided a comprehensive overview of the highlights from the past year and the exciting events planned for 2024 and 2025.
SMCC Treasurer, Mr. André Keller, delivered an insightful presentation on the financial accounts for 2023, underscoring SMCC’s unwavering commitment to financial transparency and responsible governance.
Last but certainly not least, we are delighted to announce SMCC’s successful transition from a Registered Society (ROS) to a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLBG) incorporated on the 23rd February 2024.
To steer through this transition and to maintain stability, the existing SMCC committee members were appointed to the board of Directors.
